Finnish startup Truman Data, which is commercialising a VTT-developed technology through its Energy Coop platform, is pitching a different arrangement: it organises battery financing, operates the systems, and takes an agreed share of whatever earnings the client actually receives \u2014 rather than charging a fixed fee over five to ten years.<\/p>\n<p>Under the model, batteries installed across multiple buildings are aggregated into a single network. The platform uses them to optimise on-site energy consumption and to trade on Nord Pool&#8217;s day-ahead and intraday markets. The company has not clarified, however, whether those trading operations are actually executed on the exchange or whether the projected returns are only modelled against current market prices.<\/p>\n<p>A pilot across 70 municipal buildings recorded an 11.4% reduction in annual electricity costs. A further 4.2% attributed to flexibility trading was declared as modelled revenue, not realised income. Truman Data estimates that connecting three to seven batteries to the platform could deliver combined benefits of more than 25% for building owners.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is emerging during a wider storage surge in Finland.
