Parliament has adopted as a basis the European integration draft law No. 9597 on amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Alternative Fuels” to create a register of facilities that use biofuels as the only type of fuel.<\/p>\n

This draft law aims to create a register of biofuel facilities (including biogas and biomethane) in order to exempt them from paying carbon dioxide emissions tax.<\/p>\n

According to the draft law, the Register of Facilities is to be established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine<\/a>, the State Tax Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine insist on the creation of this register.<\/p>\n

Adoption of the draft law as a whole will lead to the creation of a special register, which will include units that use solid, liquid and gas fuel as the only type of fuel. Those machines that have an account in the registry will not pay the carbon dioxide tax.<\/p>\n

This draft law is also related to the draft law on establishing a rate of zero hryvnias of environmental tax for carbon dioxide emissions for facilities that emit such emissions as a result of biofuel combustion.<\/p>\n
