{"id":4060,"date":"2025-01-28T19:11:22","date_gmt":"2025-01-28T17:11:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/100re.org.ua\/?p=4060"},"modified":"2025-01-28T19:14:27","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T17:14:27","slug":"dtek-invests-e140-million-in-energy-storage-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/100re.org.ua\/en\/dtek-invests-e140-million-in-energy-storage-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"DTEK invests \u20ac140 million in energy storage systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DTEK has selected Fluence Energy B.V., a subsidiary of Fluence Energy, Inc. to implement Ukraine&#8217;s first large-scale project to create a portfolio of battery-based energy storage systems.<\/p>\n<p>According to the company&#8217;s statement, Fluence and DTEK Renewables will build six energy storage facilities in different regions of Ukraine with a capacity of 20 MW to 50 MW, for a total of 200 MW.<\/p>\n<p>Together, they will store up to 400 MWh of electricity, enough to supply 600,000 households with electricity for two hours (equivalent to about half of the households in Kyiv).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The project, with a total investment of \u20ac140 million, is an important step towards strengthening Ukraine&#8217;s energy independence, stabilizing energy supply and transitioning to renewable energy sources,&#8221; the company said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>The work is planned to be completed by the beginning of the 2025-2026 winter season to strengthen the Ukrainian power grid during possible outages.<\/p>\n<p>When commissioned, the project will be the largest energy storage system in Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The energy storage systems will provide frequency and power balancing services to stabilize the Ukrainian power system at the request of Ukrenergo, the Ukrainian transmission system operator. Unlike traditional power plants, energy storage facilities respond within milliseconds. The decentralized nature of the project will allow the power system to avoid outages and restore grid stability much faster at the local level than before.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the storage systems are designed to provide high-tech grid stabilization services due to their ability to form a network.
