The Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) and the Swedish Wind Energy Association (SWEA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement will facilitate cooperation in the development of national wind energy sectors, as well as the use of Swedish experience and investment potential to support Ukraine’s energy transition and post-war recovery.<\/p>\n
The Memorandum defines the main areas of cooperation, including knowledge exchange, joint research, regulatory policy support and investment promotion. The partnership will focus on the development of both onshore and offshore wind energy, which are important components of Ukraine’s long-term energy independence.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe signing of this Memorandum is an important milestone in strengthening Ukrainian-Swedish cooperation in the field of wind energy. Sweden has long been a leader in the renewable energy sector, and its experience, technological expertise and investment support are critical to Ukraine’s post-war recovery and energy transition. Despite the challenges of war, wind power has proven its resilience, ensuring Ukraine’s energy security and laying the foundation for a sustainable future. Expanding cooperation with Sweden will accelerate the development of both onshore and offshore wind energy, strengthening Ukraine’s energy independence,\u201d commented Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA Board.<\/p>\n
He noted that Swedish investors had played an important role in Ukraine’s renewable energy sector even before the Russian attack in 2022, bringing not only capital but also high standards of project implementation.<\/p>\n
\u201cEnergy security is a key issue on Europe’s agenda today and a common interest for all of us. Breaking away from dependence on Russian energy resources is both a driving force and a consequence of the expansion of European renewable energy. We are already seeing a number of initiatives from member companies that are transferring equipment to the Ukrainian market, and we hope that this initiative will strengthen the ties between us, facilitating further cooperation in the future,\u201d said Daniel Badman, CEO of the Swedish Wind Energy Association.<\/p>\n
According to the UWEA, the memorandum will facilitate the implementation of joint initiatives, including the organization of working visits, industry events, and research projects focused on the development of the wind energy sector in Ukraine.
