In 2025-2026, the municipal institution \u2018City Development Agency\u2019 of the Zhytomyr City Council plans to develop design and estimate documentation for the construction of a floating solar power plant on the Teteriv River in Zhytomyr, Property Times<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

There are no floating SPPs in Ukraine yet, so Zhytomyr may be the first to implement such a project. Its estimated cost is \u20ac36 million.<\/p>\n

The idea of a floating solar power plant on the Teteriv River was first publicly presented at the international exhibition and conference REBUILD UKRAINE 2023, which took place in February 2023 in Warsaw, Poland.<\/p>\n

According to Borys Pakholyuk, director of the City Development Agency of the Zhytomyr City Council, the project was developed after analysing global experience in the construction and operation of similar facilities.<\/p>\n

\u2018During 2025-2026, within the framework of the Ukraine towards Carbon Neutrality (U_CAN) project, the municipal institution \u2018City Development Agency\u2019 of the Zhytomyr City Council plans to develop design and estimate documentation for the construction of a floating solar power plant on the Teteriv River in Zhytomyr with a capacity of up to 10 kW, as well as a roadmap for its construction. The construction of the power plant is planned to be completed in 2026-2027,\u2019 Pakholyuk said.<\/p>\n

He also noted that the developed and implemented engineering solutions and roadmap should become the basis for further scaling of the project in 2027-2030.<\/p>\n

The main challenge in implementation is to determine the optimal technical solution and obtain permits.<\/p>\n
