The document highlights the diverse role of biogas in the transition to a circular and sustainable bioeconomy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"992\">Biogas, produced through anaerobic digestion of organic waste, provides reliable renewable energy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and simultaneously addresses waste management challenges. Additional benefits include nutrient recycling, improved sanitation, and enhanced soil fertility through the use of digestate.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"994\" data-end=\"1043\">The report identifies five key areas of impact:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1477\">\n<li data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1123\">\n<p data-start=\"1046\" data-end=\"1123\">Waste and wastewater: improved sanitation, odor control, water quality.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1124\" data-end=\"1210\">\n<p data-start=\"1126\" data-end=\"1210\">Agriculture: income diversification, reduced demand for synthetic fertilizers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1211\" data-end=\"1287\">\n<p data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1287\">Biofertilizers: closing nutrient cycles, protecting soils and water.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1381\">\n<p data-start=\"1290\" data-end=\"1381\">Energy: production of biomethane and biogenic CO\u2082, strengthening energy independence.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1382\" data-end=\"1477\">\n<p data-start=\"1384\" data-end=\"1477\">Society: climate change mitigation and the development of a resilient circular economy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1479\" data-end=\"1754\">International experience from Canada, France, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland shows that success depends on state policy \u2014 standardization, financial support, and infrastructure development. Policy risks and barriers directly affect the competitiveness of biogas solutions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1756\" data-end=\"2052\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieabioenergy.com\/blog\/publications\/identification-and-assessment-of-sustainability-effects-associated-with-biogas-solutions\/\">IEA Bioenergy<\/a> recommends broader recognition of the cross-sectoral benefits of biogas, integrated strategies, and the removal of regulatory barriers.
