The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted its first-ever subsidy programme for privately owned solar photovoltaic systems, a move the government frames as the foundation of a household self-generation market that does not yet exist in the region.<\/p>\n
The scheme runs from 2026 to 2030 and is administered by the national Renewable Energy and Efficient Cogeneration Operator, OIEiEK. Two tiers of support are on offer. Socially vulnerable households of at least three members qualify for full reimbursement of installation costs. All other private homeowners may apply for an investment grant covering half of total expenditure, capped at 7,000 convertible marks per applicant. Installed capacity is limited to 10.8 kW, and eligibility requires annual electricity consumption above 4,500 kWh, with the system size not exceeding the household’s permitted grid-connection capacity.<\/p>\n
OIEiEK estimates the programme will connect roughly 500 new systems each year, averaging 6 kW apiece. Combined annual output is projected at approximately 4,200 MWh of clean electricity consumed directly on site.<\/p>\n
Specific application windows have not yet been announced. OIEiEK will publish the first call on its website and in at least two national daily newspapers; once published, applicants will have 90 days to submit their documentation.<\/p>\n
The programme is the first of its kind in the Federation, and its decade-long horizon signals an ambition to shift citizen attitudes toward energy self-sufficiency rather than deliver a one-off subsidy round.<\/p>\n
