Wind Parks of Ukraine is pushing forward with new capacity even after the conflict destroyed one of its wind facilities in Kramatorsk, illustrating how the country’s renewable sector is adapting rather than retreating.<\/p>\n
The company already runs 80.8 MW of turbines at Nyzhni Vorota in the Zakarpattia region and is breaking ground on approximately 70 MW more in central Ukraine. Before installing any turbines, the group spends at least a year surveying each prospective site. That process proved consequential in Nyzhni Vorota, where environmental assessments revealed the habitat of a red-listed species, prompting the company to abandon 14 of its originally planned 30 turbines. The move reduced projected output but kept the local ecosystem intact.<\/p>\n
Communities hosting the company’s projects receive three percent of gross electricity sales under a formal agreement, with funds directed toward schools, roads, and social programs \u2014 giving residents a tangible stake in the investment.<\/p>\n
CEO Vladyslav Yeremenko described renewables as “the foundation of development and the future” for Ukraine and outlined a strategic target of around 2 GW of new capacity over the next five to seven years. He argued that distributed generation is becoming increasingly central to national energy security as the war continues.<\/p>\n
Yeremenko also called for a long-term, balanced national generation plan spanning ten to twenty years and accounting for the renewable potential of each Ukrainian region \u2014 a framework he considers essential before the wind industry can scale to meet the country’s needs.<\/p>\n
