Electronics manufacturing giant Flex has announced its intention to acquire EPC Power, a California company founded in 2010 that produces industrial-scale inverters and power conversion platforms for data centers. The move is driven by surging demand from artificial intelligence infrastructure, which requires increasingly powerful and sophisticated energy systems.<\/p>\n
The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. Once complete, EPC Power will be folded into Flex’s cloud and energy infrastructure segment \u2014 a division that Flex separately plans to spin off as a standalone publicly listed company in the first quarter of 2027, making the acquisition a strategic piece of that future entity.<\/p>\n
EPC Power’s product portfolio centers on high-performance power conversion: its 800-volt conversion systems and solid-state transformer development are seen as particularly well suited to modern data facilities where energy density continues to climb. “Customers increasingly need intelligent, efficient, and resilient energy systems as AI infrastructure accelerates,” said EPC Power chief executive Jim Fusaro.<\/p>\n
For Flex, the acquisition builds on an existing footprint in the energy sector. The company manufactures Enphase microinverters under contract in the United States and held a majority stake in solar tracker firm Nextracker before that business was spun off in 2024. The EPC Power deal extends that trajectory, positioning Flex \u2014 and eventually its independent energy unit \u2014 at the intersection of digital infrastructure growth and the power conversion technologies needed to support it.<\/p>\n
