Kosovo received three competing bids in its inaugural wind power tender, with the award going to whichever bidder offers the lowest price per megawatt-hour \u2014 subject to a ceiling of 80.2 euros per MWh.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Economy is offering 15-year contracts for difference covering projects in the 50\u2013100 MW range. The three contenders are France’s Akuo Energy, which previously developed a 116 MW project in the region; the Turkish consortium G\u00fcri\u015f, operator of the existing Kitka wind facility; and Germany’s Notus Energy in partnership with local firm Stublla Energy. Bid documents will now be verified before a winner is named.<\/p>\n
The original tender framework envisaged backing 150 MW of wind capacity across two auction rounds. Under that structure, projects would be operated by special-purpose vehicles in which the state could hold up to a 49 percent stake, with development financing channelled through an IMF RSF mechanism. The IFC, the EBRD, and LuxDev all supported the auction’s organisation.<\/p>\n
The wind tender follows Kosovo’s first solar auction, held in 2024. The country’s installed wind base has grown in tandem: the 70 MW Zatric wind farm entered commercial operation last week, joining the 104.1 MW Selac (also known as Bajgora), the 32.4 MW Kitka, and the 1.35 MW Golesh facility \u2014 bringing combined installed wind capacity to just under 208 MW.<\/p>\n
