Danish energy developer \u00d8rsted has finished installing all sixty-five turbines at Revolution Wind, putting the project on track to reach its full 704 MW rated output later this year. The offshore wind farm has been delivering carbon-free electricity to two states since March, running at partial capacity throughout a drawn-out legal confrontation with federal authorities.<\/p>\n
The project survived two rounds of government-ordered stoppages. In August 2025, the US Department of the Interior issued a work-halt order citing broadly worded national security concerns; a court rejected the order a month later. In late December, the administration moved to freeze five active projects at once, but courts overturned those directives as well. Throughout this period, the government also sought to pressure developers into voluntarily relinquishing their offshore lease rights, allocating nearly $4 billion toward that effort.<\/p>\n
The farm has already demonstrated its grid value during stress events. When July heat drove up electricity demand across New England, generation from Revolution Wind and the adjacent Vineyard Wind 1 allowed utilities to reduce their reliance on costly oil-burning peaker plants. South Fork Wind, another offshore installation in the area, maintained reliable output during a severe winter storm.<\/p>\n
With all turbines now in place, Revolution Wind \u2014 which has been producing power in partial operation since March \u2014 is set to reach its full 704 MW capacity before year’s end.<\/p>\n
