Teofipol Energy has delivered its first biomethane cargo to Hungary — 45,000 cubic metres routed through Ukraine’s existing gas transport system — making it the country’s fifth biomethane exporter. The buyer was Hungarian firm ERU Europe.

The company operates a plant in Khmelnytskyy region that opened earlier this year and is currently Ukraine’s largest active biomethane facility, with a designed capacity of roughly 56 million cubic metres annually. The complex converts local organic feedstocks — livestock residues and beet pulp — into gas refined to European pipeline quality. Monthly output is estimated at between 1.4 and 2.8 million cubic metres, and the company intends to scale export batches progressively to 200,000 cubic metres.

Ukraine’s Bioenergy Association (UABIO) noted that each new producer and each export shipment advances the country’s standing in Europe’s renewable-gas market, adding that Ukraine’s ability to channel biomethane through its existing pipeline network signals a move from scattered pilots to a consistent, growing EU presence.

The country’s national industry programme identifies biomethane as one of its key future export energy carriers. Biomethane can travel through existing pipelines without a dedicated distribution network, which also supports the EU’s ambition of producing 35 billion cubic metres of biomethane per year.
