270 Signatories Urge European Commission to Keep RED III Green Hydrogen Targets Intact

A coalition of 270 signatories has called on the European Commission to preserve the existing RFNBO targets established under the RED III directive, pushing back against any relaxation of green hydrogen mandates.

The joint letter was first submitted on 24 September. Since that date the coalition has expanded as new participants joined, bringing the total to 270 signatories.

Three bodies coordinated the effort: Hydrogen Europe, an industrial association with more than 600 members — including over 40 EU regions and more than 30 national hydrogen associations within that membership — the Hydrogen Council, a CEO-led international alliance of around 140 corporations from nearly 30 countries, and the Renewable Hydrogen Coalition, which represents the European renewable hydrogen supply chain.

Rather than seeking revised mandates or eased obligations, the signatories are asking EU institutions to enforce the agreed timelines and preserve a stable regulatory framework for the sector. Their stated aim is regulatory certainty for the market across the European Union.
