Ukraine continues to prepare for winter and possible blackouts at an accelerated pace.

According to Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the work on the procurement and installation of energy equipment is ongoing in real time.

The Cabinet of Ministers is prioritizing nine frontline and border regions.

“Cities that depend on large thermal power plants are particularly vulnerable. It is thermal power plants and CHPs that Russia has targeted, destroying or damaging almost 90% of Ukraine’s total thermal power generation. The goal is to provide these communities with alternative sources of heat and electricity.”

For example, 127 cogeneration and 8 gas-piston units, 60 block-modular boilers, and 32 powerful power generators have been received or confirmed for Kharkiv.

Overall, according to the Cabinet of Ministers, the needs of housing and communal enterprises for cogeneration units have been met by more than half. There are already 182 units, of which 83 are in operation. The rest of the equipment will be installed by the end of the year.
