Auctions for the distribution of support quotas for renewable energy will start in March: Cabinet of Ministers unveils schedule
05.12.2024The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a schedule of auctions for the distribution of renewable energy support quotas for 2025, according to which the first of them – for 33 MW of solar power plants – will start in March.
According to Energoreforma, the relevant decision is enshrined in the Cabinet of Ministers’ Resolution No. 1195-r of November 29, published on the Government Portal.
As noted in the annex to the order, after the distribution of quotas for SPPs, auctions for 100 MW of wind farms should be held in April, and in July – for another 150 MW of wind farms.
The auction to allocate 47 MW of support quotas for other types of RES (small hydropower, bioenergy) should be held in May.
The SPPs are to be built exclusively on the left bank of the Dnipro River, while all other types of RES generation are not subject to territorial restrictions.
The order also includes forecast indicators of RES support quotas until 2029, according to which the quota for 2026 is planned at 340 MW, 2027 – 350 MW, 2028 – 375 MW, 2029 – 400 MW.
Of this amount, 34-40 MW will be allocated to SPPs, 250-290 MW to wind farms, 21-26 MW to biomass plants, 30-39 MW to biogas, and 5 MW to small hydropower facilities annually.
It should be noted that by the same decree 1195-r, the government set the annual quota for RES support in 2025 at 330 MW, with a ceiling price for wind and solar power plants of 8 euro cents/kWh, and 12 euro cents/kWh for other types.
