INTERVIEW: SPP + Energy Storage: How Zhytomyr is Implementing a Next-Generation Energy Model)

3 MW of solar generation + 9 MWh of energy storage — one of the projects Zhytomyr is working on within ANEW-LIFE.

We are talking about a solution for the water utility company — a critical infrastructure facility for which energy autonomy is of particular importance today.

As explained by Olha Kruhliak, Lead Specialist at the City Development Agency of the Zhytomyr City Council, the city is interested not only in implementing a single project, but also in finding a financial model that can be scaled.

One of the mechanisms Zhytomyr is considering is a PPA. Moving forward, the city wants to test this approach for other energy solutions as well — in particular, a future demonstration project for a floating solar power plant.

The goal is to find a model where modern energy projects can be implemented not only through grants, but also scaled via other financial instruments.
