A New 50 kW Solar Power Plant Installed for Hospital in Chortkiv As part of the municipal project “Solar Chortkiv”, the city has received a new 50 kW solar power plant that will supply electricity to the maternity and infectious diseases departments of the Chortkiv Central City Hospital.

The installation became possible thanks to the project’s victory in the “Sun for Ukraine” competition, organized by Greenpeace Ukraine in cooperation with the BIOHAUS-Stiftung foundation.

This is already the third solar power system installed for the needs of the city hospital:

a 21.6 kW grid-connected system for the inpatient building,

a hybrid system (50 kW + 40 kWh battery storage) for the outpatient clinic,

and now a new 50 kW plant to support critical infrastructure, specifically the maternity and infectious diseases units.

The goal of the project is to strengthen the hospital’s energy resilience, reduce electricity costs, and showcase effective local solutions in the transition to renewable energy.

Project Background

The “Solar Chortkiv” initiative is led by the Chortkiv City Council to increase the energy independence and sustainability of municipal institutions. Implementing solar power plants reduces pressure on the local budget and helps ensure continuous operation of medical facilities in case of power outages.

The new solar installation for the hospital’s critical departments is an important step in this direction. Previous hybrid systems in other hospital buildings have already demonstrated the potential of combining renewable generation with battery storage.x
