Bioenergy Association of Ukraine joined the international project BioPart
26.12.2024UABIO has become a participant in the project “Biogas Partnership: Co-creating a Pathway to Stimulate Biogas Solutions in the Baltic Sea Region”.
According to the Bioenergy Association, the project is funded by the Swedish Institute and aims to develop a network between Swedish, Polish, Ukrainian academia and the private sector.
The goal of the project is to create new knowledge and practices that will facilitate the widespread adoption of biogas solutions, including biomethane production. This, in turn, will lead to the replacement of natural gas in the Baltic Sea region. As well as the valorization of the digestate for use as a biofertilizer, which will contribute to soil restoration in Ukraine, especially in the post-war period.
The BioPart project has already held its first working meeting in Poland. The event brought together key partners from Linköping University (Sweden), Poznan University of Life Sciences (Poland), the Polish Biomethane Organization, Sumy State University, and the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine.
The event brought together about 30 participants from academia, NGOs, various stakeholders, biogas companies, and municipalities.
The participants agreed on goals, roles and responsibilities, as well as project timing and further communication. They also took part in a workshop dedicated to the study of the national potential for biogas and biomethane production in the partner countries of Sweden, Poland, and Ukraine.
