Global 100% RE Ukraine has joined the international project ANEW-LIFE

The green platform Global 100% RE Ukraine has joined a new large-scale project – ANEW-LIFE.

The project was founded and is being implemented jointly with the European Union. In addition to Global 100% RE Ukraine, the participants from Ukraine include Ecoclub, DiXi Group, and the municipalities of Zhytomyr, Nizhyn, and Kalush. The list of foreign participants includes companies and organizations from Germany, Austria, Italy, Luxembourg, and Romania.

The goal of the project is to develop tools to facilitate the “green” transition of cities. In more detail, it is to develop and test innovative financing mechanisms (with a focus on energy infrastructure reconstruction and decarbonization), which will then be scaled up to 10 more Ukrainian and 10 European cities after testing in pilot cities.

On February 25, the first inception workshop was held in Nizhyn, Chernihiv region. The meeting was moderated by Oleksiy Korchmit, Director of Global 100% RE Ukraine.

Three panels were held in a very short but intense format:

• The needs of Ukrainian cities in the sustainable energy transition.
• Available financial instruments for the development of clean energy in Ukraine.
• Strategies and plans for sustainable development after the project.

The next in the series of inception workshops will be held in two more participating cities – Kalush (February 26) and Zhytomyr (February 28).

The project will run until September 30, 2027. So in three years, as Oleksiy Korchmit noted, the city will receive a catalog of green investment projects and modern financial instruments for implementation.
