Members of the Global 100% RE Ukraine green platform took part in the Solar Invest Forum 2025 held in Kyiv on February 20.

The first panel, dedicated to the state of the electricity market, was moderated by the Head of SEAU Vladyslav Sokolovskyi.

The speakers were:

  • Andriy Gerus, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities;
  • Maksym Yurkov, Director of Legal Affairs at Ukrenergo;
  • Artem Nekrasov, Acting Director of the State Enterprise “Guaranteed Buyer”;
  • Oleksandr Havva, CEO of Market Operator JSC;
  • Tetiana Odnorog, CEO of Unisolar.

The panelists discussed new legislative initiatives, problematic issues of the RES sector, tools for selling electricity generated by SPPs, trading in guarantees of origin, etc.

Oleksandr Dombrovsky, Chairman of Global 100% RE Ukraine and President of MHP Eco Energy, moderated the second panel of the Solar Invest Forum. It was devoted to technical solutions for installing SPPs for industrial enterprises and self-consumption. In particular, it was about storage systems.

The panelists were Oleksandr Alyokhin, Head of the Ukrainian division of Huawei Digital Power at Huawei Ukraine, and Oleksandr Kovpak, CTO of Atmosfera. So, as Oleksandr Dombrovsky noted at the beginning, it was a discussion of three Oleksandr’s.

Among other things, Oleksandr Dombrovsky told how MHP came to understand the need for hybrid inverters and storage systems.

“We believed that solar power plants with grid-tie inverters were an element of energy security, that we would always have solar electricity. And when the destruction of the energy infrastructure and blackouts began, we saw that our solar systems were not working. We spent a lot of money on diesel generators and provided energy for our own production even where there were solar stations. But we realized that we needed to switch to hybrid inverters. And the best option is to install storage systems that will support island operation during blackouts. And, moreover, they will provide additional services so that we can earn some money,” said the head of Global 100% RE Ukraine.

“If we are able to demonstrate that any Ukrainian company can be energy independent and have a high level of energy security, then by integrating such projects in various combinations, the state can also become energy independent,” he explained why MHP’s experience is important for other businesses and the state.

The third panel of the forum, “Investment Instruments for the Installation of SPPs,” was moderated by Ivan Balytskyi, Chairman of the SEAU Legal Committee.

Speakers:

  • Oleksiy Korchmit, Chairman of the Ukrainian Association of Energy Service Companies and Director of Global 100% RE Ukraine;
  • Vladyslav Maksakov, Senior Project Manager for Energy Transition at the Office for Support of Recovery and Reforms at the Ministry of Energy;
  • Yulia Rybak, UNDP Ukraine Green Recovery Program Manager;
  • Olesia Mishchenko, Chairman of the Board of the Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine;
  • Yevhen Myachyn, Director of Corporate Business Development and Support at Oschadbank JSC.

The panel discussed the mechanisms for stimulating the development of solar power plants, the program of green energy recovery of Ukraine, mechanisms for preferential lending, etc. In particular, Oleksiy Korchmit spoke about the work of the ESCO mechanism, why it is especially suitable for hospitals and water utilities, and the nuances of project payback, etc.
