GREEN SYSTEM implemented a network of solar power plants for 10 kindergartens — a winning project of the 100 gREen AWARD
Winner of the 100 gREen Award in the category “Best project for the energy autonomy of social educational institutions based on Ukrainian energy storage systems”

Energy independence of educational institutions is not only about renewable energy, but also about the safety of children, which must be guaranteed 24/7. In conditions of grid instability, communities face a critical need to ensure the autonomous operation of kitchens, lighting, and life-support systems in kindergartens.
Since 2023, GREEN SYSTEM, within the framework of the international campaign #Renewables4Ukraine, initiated by the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) and the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA), has implemented a large-scale infrastructure project — the construction of 10 solar power plants for preschool institutions. These solutions are critically important for ensuring the energy resilience of communities and the uninterrupted operation of social infrastructure.
This is an example of how distributed generation is becoming the foundation of a city’s energy resilience, allowing kindergartens to operate stably regardless of the situation in the energy system.
Among the key facilities in the network:
● Irpin, “Chervona Kalyna”: SPP 34.5 kW, battery 45 kWh, inverter 30 kW.
● Borodianka, “Kazka”: SPP 15.66 kW, battery 12 kWh, inverter 18 kW.
● Myrhorod, “Svitliachok”: SPP 10.44 kW, battery 12 kWh, inverter 12 kW.
● Kozyntsi village, “Ivasyk-Telesyk”: SPP 16.6 kW, battery 45 kWh, inverter 18 kW.
● Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka village, “Chervona Shapochka”: SPP 16.6 kW, battery 45 kWh, inverter 18 kW.
Public confirmation and media coverage: The implementation of the project was actively covered in regional and national media as an example of successful recovery and energy independence of communities:
● ITV channel: “Blackouts are no longer frightening: a solar power plant was installed at a kindergarten in Irpin”
● Myrhorod City Council: “A solar power plant was installed on the roof of a kindergarten in Myrhorod”
● Ukrinform: Projects for restoring the energy independence of the social sector
About the project
During 2023–2026, the GREEN SYSTEM team completed the full engineering and construction cycle for 10 sites: from individual design to commissioning of the complexes. A unique feature of the technical solution was the use of energy storage systems (ESS) of GREEN SYSTEM’s own Ukrainian production.
The implementation of the company’s own developments made it possible to:
● Ensure full autonomy: storage systems guarantee the operation of critical equipment during prolonged outages.
● Optimize energy consumption: maximum replacement of consumption with “green” energy during daytime hours and use of stored energy during peak periods.
● Support the local economy: the use of Ukrainian equipment ensures high system adaptability and service support from the manufacturer.
Why this project matters
The value of this case lies in the combination of social mission and technological sovereignty. The use of Ukrainian-made storage systems proves that domestic engineering solutions are capable of effectively protecting critical infrastructure. This is a systemic model that communities across Ukraine can implement, ensuring a reliable future for the youngest Ukrainians.
GREEN SYSTEM has been on the market since 2012, and we are confident that the synergy of renewable generation and national energy storage technologies is the new standard of energy security for Ukrainian communities.
The selection was carried out by the Board of Global 100 RE Ukraine — representatives of профильних associations of green energy, including the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association. In each category, the best implemented projects were identified, and the award is given to all the teams behind their implementation. 100 gREen AWARD-2025 is a recognition of those who are truly changing Ukraine’s energy sector.
