Open Session of ASEU Committees and JSC “Market Operator”

On July 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM (Kyiv time), the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (ASEU), in cooperation with JSC “Market Operator”, will hold an open online session of the ASEU Committees titled:
“Charge and Profit: How Energy Storage Systems Unlock New Opportunities in the Electricity Market”.

This session marks the launch of a joint series of analytical and practical events aimed at providing key market stakeholders with insight into the economic and operational potential of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) in Ukraine’s evolving energy landscape.

A central part of the event will be a presentation by Oleksandr Havva, CEO of JSC “Market Operator”, who will unveil the results of the study
“The Potential of ESS Operation in the Electricity Market: Arbitrage Benefits in the Spot Segment.”

The session will cover:

the arbitrage model for ESS operation in the day-ahead market (DAM);
key features of other market segments, including the
• bilateral contracts market (BCM),
• day-ahead market (DAM),
• intraday market (IDM),
• balancing market,
• and ancillary services market;
investment return models and payback calculations, considering system capacity and service costs;
real market scenarios based on historical price data;
calculation algorithms and methodologies for assessing project profitability and investment appeal.
The session will be moderated by Serhii Ruchko, Chair of the ASEU Committee on Energy Storage Systems, and Volodymyr Yevdokymov, Chair of the ASEU Committee on Electricity Market Operations.

This event is tailored for RES investors, producers, aggregators, traders, and electricity market participants who are already working with or considering investments in energy storage infrastructure. All registered participants will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance (by July 28) or ask them live during the event.
