The Ministry of Finance conquers the sun: a solar power plant was installed on the roof of the Ministry

According to Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko on his Facebook, 118 photovoltaic panels with a total area of 310 square meters were installed on the roof of the Ministry and have already produced more than 9 MW of energy over the past month.

In general, the ministry has taken a comprehensive approach to energy efficiency: two heating stations have been modernized in the building, 2 km of pipelines have been insulated, 600 lamps have been replaced, and more than 200 windows have been renovated. A system for monitoring energy resources was also introduced, which allows for more rational use of them.

“Given the systematic attacks of the aggressor on the energy system of Ukraine, it is important to develop decentralized generation and reduce energy consumption. The Ministry of Finance is implementing such measures. We have reduced consumption by 20% and saved over UAH 1.3 million per year. This is the result of the implemented energy-efficient solutions in the building of the Ministry of Finance,” Marchenko said.

The energy modernization was implemented with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). The plans include the modernization of the air conditioning and ventilation system and the installation of an energy-efficient glass roof. These and other steps will allow the Ministry of Finance to make the most efficient use of limited resources.

According to the minister, his team is doing everything possible to make the Ministry of Finance the first government building in Ukraine to receive an energy efficiency certificate of class A.
