For the first time in four years, employment in the US clean energy sector has declined. What does this signal mean for the market?

Global 100 RE Ukraine has published an article examining recent developments in the US clean energy market. By the end of 2025, the sector had lost nearly 37,000 jobs, bringing total employment down to 3.52 million. This decline followed four consecutive years of growth.

However, the picture is mixed: the largest job losses were recorded in energy efficiency and clean transportation, while energy storage and grid modernization continued to expand.

In the latest episode of 100GREEN Talks, Oleksandr Dombrovskyi, President of PJSC MHP Eco Energy, discusses what this shift means for the global energy transition and why predictable regulatory frameworks, consistent long-term government policies, and favorable investment conditions are essential for the sector’s development.

Clean energy is about more than adding new megawatts of generation capacity. It also encompasses equipment manufacturing, technology, investment, and hundreds of thousands of jobs. When the rules of the game change, the consequences are felt across the entire value chain — from new project development to employment.

For Ukraine, the US experience is particularly relevant at a time when the country must simultaneously rebuild its energy system, attract private capital, and develop new sectors of the economy driven by advanced energy technologies.

What does the US experience reveal, and what lessons should Ukraine take from it? Watch the latest episode of 100GREEN Talks to find out.
