UN to help Ukraine purchase gas piston units and modernize public buildings

“Naftogaz” is cooperating with UNDP on energy security and the 2024/2025 heating season.

According to Naftogaz CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov, at a meeting with UNDP representatives on September 16, it was agreed to purchase gas reciprocating units for Ukraine.

“We have an agreement to purchase gas reciprocating units that will further strengthen our ability to provide uninterrupted electricity and heat to Ukrainians during the winter,” said Oleksiy Chernyshov.

UNDP will also contribute to Ukraine’s energy resilience in another area – the energy modernization of public buildings in small and medium-sized cities in Ukraine. In particular, it will support a project under which commercial banks will lend to energy service companies (ESCOs) for this purpose.

About 10 energy service companies are expected to participate in the pilot phase of the ESCO Fund.

The companies will be able to receive financial support in the amount of 20% of the cost of energy modernization works to partially repay the loan. The maximum loan amount for one energy service contract is UAH 8 million.
