News

ANEW-LIFE is an innovative project co-funded by the European Union through the LIFE Programme, aimed at supporting the transition to sustainable energy in Ukraine. Despite the challenges posed by Russian aggression, the project seeks to strengthen the involvement of both public and private sectors in financing energy initiatives at the municipal level in Ukraine.

Project Mission

The primary mission of ANEW-LIFE is to develop and test innovative financial mechanisms that will accelerate the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, support the decarbonization of local communities, and contribute to the creation of a new, resilient, and cleaner energy system for the country.

The project focuses on actively supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine’s social, economic, and technical stability, starting with three pilot cities: Zhytomyr, Kalush, and Nizhyn.

Strategies and Approach

ANEW-LIFE is conducting an extensive campaign to test energy models, using a co-creation approach and testing financial mechanisms in the three pilot cities. These results will not only help assess their impact but will also serve as the foundation for developing a strategy to promote the project’s concept after its completion, with a particular focus on replication in other cities.

The project includes the creation of a replication strategy, which will be applied in at least 10 cities in Ukraine and at least 10 cities in Europe, ensuring maximum reach and the effective application of acquired knowledge for further development of energy resilience in the regions.

Project Duration

The ANEW-LIFE project will continue until September 30, 2027. The active implementation of its first phase is now underway, laying the foundation for the further deployment of innovative energy solutions in cities across Ukraine and Europe.
