RISE Initiative for Solar Energy in Ukraine: Octopus Energy and DTEK Announce Strategic Partnership

On June 23, 2025, British energy company Octopus Energy and Ukrainian energy company DTEK announced the launch of RISE – Resilient Independent Solar Energy, a joint initiative to support solar energy development in Ukraine.

The RISE initiative for solar energy in Ukraine aims to raise €100 million to finance up to 100 rooftop solar power systems with battery storage across the country. The initiative will support installations at commercial and public sector sites.

With over 70% of Ukraine’s thermal power generation capacity destroyed due to the ongoing war, the RISE initiative is designed to accelerate the transition to a more decentralized and resilient energy system.
Octopus Energy та DTEK
A key component of the initiative is the use of Kraken, an AI-based energy management platform developed by Octopus Energy. Kraken enables efficient energy flow optimization and allows for surplus electricity to be sold back to the grid.
