Twelve Projects Selected for EU Innovation Fund 2025 — Nearly €895m in Grants Awaiting CINEA Negotiations
Twelve clean-technology initiatives have earned places in the 2025 Innovation Fund competition, collectively seeking close to €895 million in EU grants. Selection does not settle the final amounts: each project will enter individual negotiations with the executive agency CINEA before funding is formally confirmed.
Battery manufacturing claims three of the twelve spots. In Spain, PowerCo will build a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) gigafactory in Sagunto, near Valencia, with a selected project capacity of up to 27 GWh per year — while the full planned site would eventually reach 40 GWh across eight production lines supplied by renewable energy. In Poland, LG Energy Solution Wrocław’s ArisEU line will produce LFP cells for electric vehicles at 9 GWh, using an advanced layer-stacking process. Germany’s Bosch rounds out the battery trio with its FLOW4EVE initiative.
The remaining selections include a 5 GW TOPCon solar-module project in France, as well as hydrogen and industrial heat-pump proposals. Industry analysts suggest that if European producers reach competitive manufacturing costs, the continent’s energy-storage and electric-transport sectors would be far less exposed to global trade barriers.
