On 31 January, Grain Storage Forum 2025, Ukraine’s largest forum in the fields of storage, processing, logistics and trading of agricultural products, took place in Kyiv. Three members of our green platform took part in the event.

Oleksandr Dombrovsky, Chairman of the Board of Global 100% RE Ukraine, spoke at the panel ‘Agricultural sector and solar energy: synergy of opportunities’ at Grain Storage Forum 2025. The discussion was moderated by Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, Chairman of the Board of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine. The previous panel, ‘Biogas and biomethane for energy independence and competitiveness of the Ukrainian agro-industrial complex’, was moderated by Georgii Geletukha, Chairman of the Board of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine.

Oleksandr Dobrovsky spoke about the experience of using solar and other types of green energy at the enterprises of MHP, an international food and agro-technology company, and the challenges that have been faced in practice.

‘The sun is a very dynamic technology that should be integrated with other technological solutions for energy storage. This will make it possible to take into account consumption schedules and use the generated electricity for balancing purposes,’ Dombrowski said.

According to him, in 2024, MHP built about 15 MW of SPPs, and in total, about 800 MW of solar panels have already been installed on the roofs of the company’s facilities. This is a huge resource for ensuring our energy independence.

The company plans to install solar power plants on the roofs of all its enterprises and divisions and build a 60 MW wind farm.
