The 100GREEN YouTube channel has released a new episode focusing on the energy resilience of the Nizhyn community.
“The biggest mistake communities can make is waiting for better times. Energy transformation must begin right now,” believes Nizhyn Mayor Oleksandr Kodola.
This very topic is the focus of the new episode on the 100GREEN channel, featuring Nizhyn Mayor Oleksandr Kodola and the Nizhyn community’s energy manager, Denys Vorona. During the discussion, the participants shared practical experience in building a systemic approach to community energy security, developing local generation, and implementing energy management as a key tool for strategic governance.
The discussion centered on the development of solar generation and cogeneration, increasing the energy autonomy of critical infrastructure facilities, attracting grant funding, and securing additional resources for energy projects.
Special attention in the interview was given to the ANEW-LIFE project, under which Nizhyn is working on new approaches to financing the green transition and implementing sustainable energy projects. The project aims to strengthen cooperation between communities, investors, and financial institutions to deploy practical solutions in energy efficiency and renewable energy.
The participants also discussed how communities can transition from isolated energy initiatives to comprehensive development planning, designing projects capable of attracting investment and being scaled to other cities across Ukraine.

Nizhyn’s experience demonstrates that energy resilience is built through systemic work, long-term planning, professional energy management, and the effective use of opportunities provided by international support programs, including ANEW-LIFE.
