Polish Developer Eyes 162 MW Ukrainian Wind Farm After Green Auction Win
Polish renewable energy developer Grupa Mosty is moving forward with plans to build a 162 MW wind farm in Ukraine’s Odessa region, following a successful bid at the country’s green auction held in September 2026. The project, known as Mayaky, would comprise 36 Vestas turbines rated at 4.5 MW each, with commissioning targeted for the end of 2028.
The company’s Ukrainian subsidiary won state-support capacity for the full 162 MW at a tariff of seven euro cents per kilowatt-hour. Elementum Energy, the Naftogaz group, and Kernel were also among the auction’s winners.
Development work on Mayaky began in 2022. Grupa Mosty says the state support should improve the project’s appeal to lenders, though its CFO Jacek Skrabacz acknowledges that the number of financial institutions willing to finance projects in an active conflict zone remains limited. The company has not disclosed its construction budget, prospective lenders, or the terms of war-risk insurance for the investment.
According to reporting by Borg Expert, the project’s schedule is structured in three stages:
- Reaching ready-to-build status — Q1 2027
- Financial close and securing credit financing — Q2 or Q3 2027
- Completion of construction and plant launch — end of 2028
The developer is already in talks with contractors for electrical infrastructure and turbine installation. Across its portfolio, Grupa Mosty has built more than 80 MW of generating capacity, including 57.5 MW in Poland and a 5.2 MW solar plant in Georgia. Once Mayaky is operational, the company is also considering energy storage systems to improve the plant’s own operating flexibility and manage periods of lower output or shifting demand.
