The First Inaugural Seminar of the ANEW-LIFE Project Took Place in Kalush
01.05.2025On February 26, 2025, the first inaugural seminar of the European ANEW-LIFE project was held in Kalush. The project’s goal is to support the sustainable development of cities and communities, improve energy efficiency, implement “green” technologies, and reduce the negative environmental impact.
Budget and Importance for Kalush
The total budget of the ANEW-LIFE project is €1.5 million, with €53,500 allocated to Kalush for implementing specific local measures. This includes new technical solutions and training for local authorities and communities.
For Kalush, this project has strategic significance. In addition to attracting European funding, the project positions the city as an example for other municipalities aiming to implement sustainable development and modernize energy systems.
Inaugural Seminar in Kalush
On February 26, the seminar titled “Starting Cooperation within the Project: Meeting the Needs of the Transition to Clean Energy. The Readiness of Ukrainian Cities to Attract Innovative Financing. Examples and Actions” was held in Kalush.
The event involved representatives from companies in Ukraine, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria, Germany, Romania, as well as representatives from the Kalush community. The seminar was moderated by the Executive Director of Global 100% RE Ukraine, Oleksiy Korchmit. The discussions focused on key aspects of the transition to clean energy, available European financial instruments for energy projects, crowdfunding and public-private partnership opportunities, and adapting strategies for the transition to clean energy in the context of limited funding.
Next Steps and Perspective
Kalush joined the ANEW-LIFE project in 2024. The project is planned for three years, during which alternative sources of funding will be attracted for the implementation of energy efficiency measures in the community. Experts from the Economic Development Department of Kalush City Council will determine priority needs and assess the necessary financial resources, involving international partners and donors.
In addition to Kalush, the ANEW-LIFE project also involves Nizhyn and Zhytomyr. Later, the project’s results are planned to be expanded to ten more communities in Ukraine and ten in the European Union. Thus, Kalush will become a platform for developing the best solutions for the transition to clean energy, with the possibility of spreading this experience across the continent.
