Over Easy Solar, a Norwegian supplier of vertical photovoltaic systems, has deployed a 248.4 kW installation at the Norwegian national football stadium

Over Easy Solar specialists have installed the world’s largest vertical panel solar power plant on the roof of the Ullevol football stadium in Norway.

It has a peak capacity of 248 kilowatts. Unlike other solar power plants, it took several days to install, not months. “The installation was done in a few days. The power plant covers an area of more than 2500 square meters and is expected to produce 219 thousand kWh of energy annually,” writes pv-magazine.

Vertical solar panels, unlike horizontal ones, are much easier to install. By reducing the size of the panel, Over Easy Solar has managed to reduce the total weight of the station to just 11 kilograms per square meter, which makes the installation convenient at various sites and even on the roof of a football stadium.

The new vertical solar power plant consists of 1,242 units of 200 watts each, located on an area of 2,500 square meters. In this installation, the solar panels are oriented at an angle of 20 degrees east of south, providing energy distribution with greater energy output during the winter months. Over Easy Solar says that analysis of pilot projects shows that vertical solar panels can achieve 20-30% higher specific yields than traditional flat-roof solutions.
