OTP Bank and Unisolar Launch Joint Financing for Business Solar and Storage
Ukrainian businesses looking to install solar power plants or industrial battery storage can now access near-zero-rate financing under a new joint program from OTP Bank and engineering firm Unisolar.
The arrangement operates within Ukraine’s state “Affordable Loans 5-7-9%” initiative. For the first seven months, borrowers pay an annual rate of just 0.01%; from the eighth month onward, a compensatory rate of 7% per annum applies. Loans are issued in hryvnias for terms of up to 84 months, and the financed equipment itself can serve as collateral — removing the need to pledge separate assets.
The program offers a single-package solution that covers project design, equipment supply, installation, and financing in one arrangement. Unisolar also handles insurance, ongoing maintenance, and technical support for completed projects. The firm specializes in solar generation, energy storage systems, and automated energy consumption management.
Interest in private generation among Ukrainian commercial operators has grown in response to risks of damage to centralized grid infrastructure. The financing structure spreads investment costs over several years, reducing the initial financial load on businesses.
Unisolar brings a significant track record to the program. Over its 16 years in the market, the company has completed more than 300 projects with a combined installed capacity exceeding 350 MW across Ukraine, Moldova, and Lithuania.
