On February 14, 2024, the international construction exhibition KyivBuild Ukraine hosted a forum-workshop “Reconstruction in Action 2.0”. The participants of this year’s forum were leading Ukrainian and international manufacturers and experts in the construction industry, representatives of state authorities and city governments, national and international non-governmental programs and organizations, in particular, USAID – US Agency for International Development, DOBRE Program, PAUCI Foundation, Confederation of Builders of Ukraine, etc.
One of the speakers of the forum was Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA), who took part in the first session “Public-Private Partnership as a Tool for Increasing the Financial Capacity of Communities” organized by the Irpin Recovery Fund.
“Cooperation of the state and business with Irpin and Borodianka, as the most affected cities as a result of the Russian invasion, should be aimed not only at rebuilding the destroyed infrastructure, but also at their transition to local, environmentally friendly and decentralized energy sources, such as solar, wind, and biomass. The projects that are currently being implemented in these cities as part of the #Renewables4Ukraine campaign with the support of the World Wind Energy Association, EKOenergy ecolabel and the UWEA demonstrate how to make this happen in practice.”
Community leaders, experts, and members of the public, in turn, shared their experience and successfully implemented cases of public-private partnerships to accelerate the reconstruction of destroyed facilities and the construction of new ones.
