H2APEX and Lhyfe Deepen Green Hydrogen Partnership in Germany

French green hydrogen producer Lhyfe and German distributor H2APEX have agreed to expand their existing partnership, committing to a two-year supply arrangement that will see Lhyfe deliver up to 100 tonnes of certified renewable hydrogen annually to its German partner.

The deal builds on prior collaboration between the two companies and targets the transport and industrial sectors, where demand for clean fuel alternatives is rising alongside tightening regulatory requirements on renewable hydrogen use in Germany.

Under the arrangement, Lhyfe handles upstream production — generating hydrogen from renewable energy sources — while H2APEX manages downstream distribution and delivery to end customers. The hydrogen covered by the agreement carries RFNBO certification, meaning it qualifies as a Renewable Fuel of Non-Biological Origin under European standards, a designation that has become a key procurement criterion for German manufacturers and fleet operators pursuing decarbonisation goals.

The companies say the combination of regulatory pressure and accelerating industrial demand makes this the right moment to scale their supply chain. For buyers, the deal offers predictable access to certified volumes at a time when offtake certainty remains one of the main barriers to hydrogen adoption in hard-to-abate sectors.
