The government will promote the creation of alternative generation in Ukraine. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this on his official Telegram page.

“I heard the reports of First Vice Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko. We considered the possibility of abolishing import duties and VAT on all energy equipment and its components, as well as simplifying customs procedures for its import. This will enable citizens and businesses to provide themselves with alternative energy sources. For its part, the Government is working to decentralize the energy system. We are talking with partners about the supply of diesel generators, cogeneration units, mobile boilers – primarily for the frontline regions,” the statement said.

Shmyhal also said that he had instructed to work on the issue of providing soft loans for generating equipment. And the Ministry of Energy was instructed to work with partners to work out the issue of installing gas piston units in each regional center.

As a reminder, on May 31, the government raised the price of electricity for household consumers to UAH 4.32 per kWh. The tariff will be valid until April 30, 2025.

For consumers using electric heating systems, a preferential tariff of UAH 2.64/kWh is provided during the heating period (from October 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025) (with consumption of up to 2000 kWh of electricity per month). The “night tariff” with a two-zone meter will be UAH 2.16/kWh.
