On Friday, October 25, the Board of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association held a meeting in a hybrid format to discuss issues important for the industry and agree on the strategic directions of UWEA’s activities for the coming years.

According to the Association, the following issues were discussed during the meeting:

  • functioning of the Commercial Risk Guarantee Fund;
  • stimulating electricity consumers to conclude corporate PPAs;
  • the effectiveness of state policy in terms of the development of renewable energy and wind energy, in particular;
  • the current status of the development of small and offshore wind energy markets in Ukraine, as well as the launch of a market for wind projects with refurbished wind turbines.

“I am pleased to announce that our Association is actively developing and expanding. As of today, the UWEA already unites 95 companies and, taking into account the membership applications that are currently under consideration, is approaching the full 100 member companies. I would like to thank all the companies that choose UWEA and stay with us for years. This motivates us to be even more active and efficient,” said Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA Board, opening the meeting.

A special issue on the agenda of the meeting was the renewal of the UWEA Board. “We strive to ensure not only maximum representation of key wind farm operators and developers on the Board, but also gradually approach gender balance in our composition,” said the Chairman of the UWEA Board, introducing a new member of the Board – Natalia Gutarevych, Senior Associate at Sayenko Kharenko, one of the founders of the UWEA.

Nataliya Gutarevych joined the Board to replace Nazar Chernyavsky, who represented the law firm on the Board for the past two years.
In addition, instead of Yuriy Zhabsky, Wind Farm LLC will be represented on the Board by Oleksandr Molybog, the company’s Chief Power Engineer. Yuriy Zhabsky will remain an honored guest at future meetings of the Management Board.

In addition, Ruslan Soichuk, Windcraft Ukraine LLC, temporarily resigned from the Management Board.
