Vestas EnVentus Reaches 15 GW Installed With 24 GW in Contracted Orders

Vestas’s EnVentus onshore wind platform now has more than 15 gigawatts of installed capacity and over 2,500 turbines operating across 26 countries, industry publication reNews reports. The Danish manufacturer’s confirmed orderbook for the platform has surpassed 24 gigawatts.

Recent deployment milestones include the installation of the platform’s first turbine in Chile and the completion of installation work at Golden Plains, regarded as Australia’s largest wind project.

Successive development cycles have lifted the platform’s rated output well above its original 5.6 MW ceiling. The V162 variant is now available at 6.5 MW for site-specific configurations, while a 6.2 MW version already in service in the United Kingdom holds the distinction of being the most powerful onshore wind turbine operating in that country.

The 24 GW of firm contracts gives Vestas a substantial forward pipeline, though how much of that capacity reaches the grid by 2028 will hinge on how quickly regulators in key markets can work through land-use approvals and grid-connection procedures — processes that have remained protracted in many jurisdictions.
